Sevenoaks Mens 8^th team slumped to a frustrating 2-1 defeat in Kent Division 3 at BBHC. Towering Tim Gore in goal initially had nothing to do as Oaks controlled the game, with midfield mastery from Ed Gore, Rob House and Steve Copeland. Upfront Simon Clare, Oliver Rice and Jerry Stanyard seemed sure to score at any moment. But the home team counter-attacked and scored two supremely soft goals in quick succession as Chris Hix, Neil Zabit and Pieter Booyse were left flat-footed.

Surely the second half would bring restitution. Nick Clark at sweeper drove play forward and tackled tenaciously. Matt Garner and Nigel Holmes added muscle and flair to the attack and goals seemed inevitable as Oaks pressed forward, winning successive shorts. Finally roistering Rice connected powerfully to fire the ball home beneath the keeper. A draw was the least Oaks deserved and assaults continued but to no avail, despite fine play from Ed Gore and Copeland. The visitors' last chance was spurned in a comedy pratfall from Hix, a back who had no business to be so far forward, and Oaks had to swallow their pride again
