Indoor 2012-13

After relegation from their first year in the Indoor Premier league last season, Oaks Men started their campaign for promotion on January 5th/6th 2013 at UWE Bristol in National Division 1. In a tough league with 4 outdoor Prem sides competing, Sevenoaks more than held their own, winning 3 (Southgate, Hampstead & Westminster and Havant) and losing 1 (Holcombe) on the opening weekend. The second weekend on January 12th & 13^th saw Oaks brush aside all competition with 4 comprehensive victories over St Albans (13-1), Brooklands (9-3), Harleston Magpies (7-4) and Bournville (7-4), to secure promotion back to the Premier League, finishing in 2^nd place behind Holcombe.

Oaks were expertly coached by player-coach Richard Payne, ably assisted by Giles Dakin, and captained by Tim Warrington. They welcomed back Chris & Nick Barker for the campaign as external players.

The excellent defensive record was in part due to superb performances from both Giles Dakin and James Marshall in the Sevenoaks goal.

Sevenoaks now look forward to another crack at the Premier League next year, where they will compete with the Nation’s elite indoor teams for a potential spot at Finals night at Wembley televised live on Sky Sports!
